Big Screen Symposium

We are trialling Close-Up Sessions this year as a complimentary add-on for a maximum of 15 participants. These sessions are facilitated conversations between the participants and the guest speaker. Only open to those who hold tickets at 9:30am Monday 25 September.

These intimate sessions focus on fostering key relationships and the role they play in your career – each from the point of view of the following filmmakers.

Close-Up with So Yong Kim
Writer and director So Yong Kim shares details about relationships that sparked key moments in her own career as a launch pad for a conversation about building and fostering lasting relationships.

Close-Up with David Michôd
David Michôd talks about his relationships with other filmmakers, with a particular focus on Blue-Tongue Films and how this collective has contributed to his work and career.

Close-Up with Carthew Neal
This is an interactive session for emerging producers. Using actual examples from the participants Carthew Neal leads a group discussion about the dynamics of a producer’s relationships.

HOW TO BOOK INTO A CLOSE-UP SESSION

  1. Buy a ticket before Monday 25 September
  2. Watch out for an email at 10am Monday 25 September notifying you bookings are open.
  3. As soon as bookings open, click the link in the email to register your interest in participating. Bookings will be taken on a first in first booked basis.
  4. You will receive an email by Tuesday 26 September letting you know if you have a place in the session, and confirming the session details. NB: We will email all ticket holders to let them know when the Close-Up sessions are full and bookings are closed.
  5. If you have secured a place, you will receive a reminder on Friday September 29 about where to go to.
