Bec Smith – Agent, Motion Picture Literary and Independent Film Group, United Talent Agency

Bec Smith is an agent at United Talent Agency (UTA), headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York, Nashville, Miami, London and Malmo in Sweden.

As an agent in the Motion Picture Literary group, she represents screenwriters and directors including Benedict Andrews, Julius Avery, Lake Bell, Luke Davies, Garth Davis, Ariel Kleiman, Mia Hansen-Løve, Julia Leigh, Joshua Oppenheimer, Stacie Passon, James Ponsoldt, David Michôd and Ben Young.

As a member of UTA’S Independent Film Group she formulates film finance and sales solutions for clients of the agency. She has worked on over 100 titles including I FEEL PRETTY, MARY MAGDALENE, THE ROVER, SON OF A GUN, PARTISAN, THE CIRCLE, THE END OF THE TOUR, THE SPECTACULAR NOW, BEGINNERS, IN A WORLD, MARGIN CALL and ADVENTURELAND.

A former producer and film journalist, Bec joined UTA from the Sydney office of Working Title Films where she was Head of Development. Bec executive produced David Michôd’s ANIMAL KINGDOM, winner of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival’s Dramatic World Cinema Jury Prize. Prior to working in development and production she was the Australasian bureau chief of the Hollywood Reporter and the editor of Inside Film Magazine in Australia.

She served on the advisory board of IFP and is a regular attendee of major film festivals and markets including Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Toronto and the American Film Market.
