Carthew Neal

Carthew Neal produced Taika Waititi’s HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE through their company Piki, which went on to become New Zealand’s #1 film, reaching a US$23M box office.

Piki recently produced its second film, THE BREAKER UPPERERS with Madeleine Sami, Jackie van Beek, Ainsley Gardiner and Georgina Conder at the helm. Carthew also produced feature documentary, TICKLED which premiered at Sundance 2016 and was released globally by Magnolia and picked up by HBO.

Carthew also works with new media: producing interactive documentaries FAFSWAG with NZ digital agency RESN, co-production I SPY (With My Five Eyes) with Canadian digital company Jam3 and released via TakePart.com, and two seasons of the online cartoon AROHA BRIDGE. He was also associate producer on Disney’s reimagining of PETE’S DRAGON.

He produced New Zealand comedy SUPER CITY starring Madeleine Sami which has been piloted in the United States with the ABC. Carthew conceived and produced two seasons of Wa$ted!, an environmental make-over series, which was remade around the world including to America Wa$ted! on Discovery channel, Planet Green. He was named Independent Producer of the Year in 2016 at the New Zealand SPADA conference, and also named in Variety’s 2016 Producers to Watch.
