Dan Buckingham is the Chief Executive of Able, a not-for-profit funded by NZ On Air, and Aotearoa’s leading provider of media access services. Able’s work helps make the magic of television and film accessible by providing captions for the 880,000+ people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, and audio description, an alternate audio track that narrates on screen action, for the 180,000+ New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.
Dan’s experience in the screen sector goes back to working in production since 2008. EP and Producer credits cover television series, documentaries, web series, sports coverage and live events.
Dan remains connected to the production world through SPADA. The most recent project he was involved with was Sight Unseen, a web series released this year that reached 2.5 million views across TikTok and Instagram.
