Dr. Ella Henry

Dr. Ella Henry (Ngātikahu ki Whangaroa, Te Rārawa, Ngāti Kuri) is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship, and Director of Māori Advancement in the Business School at Auckland University of Technology. Ella’s PhD thesis focused on Māori entrepreneurship in screen production. She has had a long involvement in the Māori screen industry, as a researcher, teacher on the Bachelor of Māori Development (Māori Media), co-author with Melissa Wikaire of the NZOA/NZFC/AUT funded text, ‘The Brown Book: working with Māori in screen production’. Ella has worked as a TV presenter (Ask Your Auntie), occasional actress (Auntie Kuini on Shortland Street), and is frequently called on by the media as a commentator on Māori and political issues.
