Ilai Amar is an accomplished film producer based in Aotearoa New Zealand, known for his commitment to the creative outcomes of his projects and to the respectful process during production. He has produced three short films funded by the NZ Film Commission, including the acclaimed HELP, I’M ALIEN PREGNANT by THUNDERLIPS, which has screened in over a dozen prominent film festivals around the world . His earlier work includes PAIN and SAIL AWAY which both premiered in competition at the New Zealand International Film Festival and went on to numerous international film festivals.
Ilai’s commitment to talent development and film education is evident through his long-standing association with Day One Hāpai te Haeata. He was instrumental in the initial development of this project, which has been running for 18 years.
Currently, Ilai is one of three producers for THUNDERLIPS’ debut feature, MUM, I’M ALIEN PREGNANT, which is in post-production.
