Kirsty Griffin

Kirsty Griffin (Ngati Porou/Ngati Awa) began her photographic career as an onset unit stills photographer in 2002. Over the last two decades, Kirsty has worked as unit stills photographer on a vast array of local feature films from Whale Rider to The Power of the Dog, and for International Studios such as Netflix, Sony, Disney, BBC, ITV, STX, and Warner bros. Recent titles include The Justice of Bunny King, Baby Done, Shadow in the Cloud and the upcoming Punch. 

Kirsty has also made a number of documentary projects as co-director, co-writer, co-producer and cinematographer with collaborator Vivienne Kernick. Their web series Amy Street won multiple international awards including Grand Jury prize at Melbourne Web Fest 2017 and the Jury Award for Best Non-Fiction at Webfest Berlin 2017. Their feature doc House of Champions won the Audience Choice Award at LA Disability Film Festival 2019. Recently their short documentary Pluck won three Best Short Doc awards – Doc Edge 2020, Wairoa Film Festival 2021 and Melbourne Women in Film Festival 2022.
