Lanita Ririnui

Lanita Ririnui (Ngāiterangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāpuhi, Ngatiwai, Tumutevarovaro) has a long career in factual TV programming and is currently the Kaikōkiri kaupapa (Content Commissioner) at Māori Television. She has worked as a director on various productions including Haka Global, Marae DIY, Tātai Hono, Fresh, and IAMTV. Lanita was the producer, live studio and field director of lifestyle, entertainment and event programmes Code, Waitangi Day, Aotearoa Reggae All Stars, Bromasters, Kanikani mai, Mā Tātou and the Waiata Māori Music Awards.

From 2015 – 2019 she was the Kaihautū Whakapā (Founder and Company Director) of media company Through the Fire Ltd and is the creator of Poi 360 – the first indigenous interactive documentary site about stories of poi from Aotearoa and first poi performance using 360 technology. She was also the Co-Producer and Director of award-winning webseries Poi Hopes & Dreams, and 360 Short films Fan-Girl and Poipoiā.

Lanita has previously served as a board member for Ngā Aho Whakaari and an MC and Ambassador to the Someday Filmmaking Challenge.
