Maria Mahony is the Head of Programming and Local Content at Lightbox.
She has the job all her colleagues envy – she watches TV for a living (well, almost), scanning networks around the world to secure content for Lightbox.
With more than 15 years experience in international and domestic broadcasting, Maria has held leadership and management roles at MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and TVNZ, where she was channel manager of youth and preschool channels.
She’s also gained digital media management experience in a number of commercial areas. These include the launch of U Live, the first official Facebook social TV experience, and establishing TVNZ’s youth platforms across Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
Maria has wide strategic, marketing, sales and programming skills from launching MTV in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark and Comedy Central, TVNZ U and TVNZ Kidzone24 in New Zealand.
In her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends and family and watching TV.
