Matthew Horrocks

Matthew Horrocks has worked in film and television production for over fifteen years.

His began his career directing for TV3’s ICE TV and producing documentaries and short films in Auckland. In the UK he worked on 28 DAYS LATER and CALENDAR GIRLS. He has produced and executive produced seven short films, all of which were selected for A-list film festivals.

From 2003-2006 Matthew worked as a Development Executive with the New Zealand Film Commission and managed their training and industry infrastructure programs. Films funded during this time included RIVER QUEEN,THE WORLD’S FASTEST INDIAN, NUMBER 2, SIONE’S WEDDING, EAGLE VS. SHARK, and OUT OF THE BLUE.

Matthew was the instigator and the designer of the Big Screen Symposium and is a board member of Script to Screen.

As a producer his current feature film projects include THE LAST SAINT (Writer/Director Rene Naufahu), BEYOND THE KNOWN WORLD (Director Pan Nalin – Samsara) which he is producing with French producer Ilann Girard (March Of The Penguins, Kolya, Renaissance, Goodbye Bafana, Lebanon, I, Anna). BEYOND THE KNOWN WORLD is a French/Indian/NZ co-production.

Current television projects include COSTELLOa documentary on NZ’s most famous suspected Cold War spy, for NZ On Air and Prime Television.

As a writer his projects include BURN OUT, a teen drama in development with the NZFC (Producer Karl Zohrab).
