Miranda Rivers is a New Zealand Casting Director and accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor with over 30 years in the screen industry. Her credits include the Avatar films, Juniper, Daffodils, Bookworm, M3GAN & M3GAN 2.0, The Hobbit trilogy, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Miranda is passionate about improving mental health outcomes in Aotearoa’s screen sector. In 2022, she hosted screenings of The Show Must Go On across three cities, followed by Q&As with filmmaker Ben Steel to highlight industry-specific mental health challenges. Since then, she has trained local screen workers as certified Mental Health First Aiders, combining her industry experience with lived whānau experience.
An advocate for change, Miranda promotes open, stigma-free conversations about mental health and encourages sector-wide action. She is also a trained Waves grief facilitator and continues to balance her work in mental health with her passion for storytelling through casting.
