Peter Burger

Peter Burger’s early work in the screen production industry was in commercials. He was the recipient of a bunch of local and international awards, of which he is proudest of Best Commercial for Fair Go.

Peter’s first drama FISH SKIN SUIT won Best Drama in the 2002 New Zealand Film and Television Awards. His short film TURANGAWAEWAE was selected for Critic’s Week at the Cannes Film Festival.

From there he honed his craft in serial television drama from GO GIRLS to HARRY and made his first feature THE TATTOOIST, which his cousin said was “awesome”.

More recently Peter has been directing a string of award-winning telefeatures for the Sunday night slot for TVNZ – UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT, BLOODLINES, BILLY, WHAT REALLY HAPPENED: WAITANGI and VOTES FOR WOMEN, and FIELD PUNISHMENT NUMBER ONE.

EREBUS: OPERATION OVERDUE is his first docu-drama.

Peter Burger is of Ngai Tahu, Rangitane and Pakeha descent.
