Peter Thompson is an Associate Professor in Media and Communication at Victoria University of Wellington (Te Herenga Waka). His research focuses on media policy (notably public media and funding mechanisms) and also communication processes in financial markets.
Peter has also undertaken commissioned work for the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, NZ On Air, the Department of Internal Affairs and the Canadian Department of Heritage, SPADA, and the Broadcasting Standards Authority.
Peter is a founding trustee of the Better Public Media trust and is primary author of several of BPM’s policy submissions including the recent response to the government’s Media Reform proposals.
