Piripi Curtis, with roots in Ngāti Rongomai and Ngāti Pikiao, is a film and television producer deeply engaged in elevating indigenous stories. As the managing director of Hikoi NZ Ltd, he leads efforts to bring these narratives to the forefront. His roles as Chairman of Ngā Aho Whakaari and Deputy Chairman of Aronui, along with a history as Chairman of Waiariki Film Studio and involvement with Film BOP, signify his active participation in promoting indigenous culture through media.
In the reality TV space, Curtis has produced “Hunting Aotearoa” for 18 seasons, and serves as the Executive Producer for two fully fluent language shows, “Nanakia” and “Harakore,” demonstrating his dedication to preserving and celebrating indigenous languages. His work in drama spans producing a range of short films, Producer for the tele-feature “Umbrella Man,” Associate Producer of “Vegas,” and Co-Producer for the upcoming TV series “End of the Valley.”
Currently, Curtis is the lead producer of the feature film “Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End” and is a Co-Producer on the Indian Feature Film “Kannappa.” Both eagerly anticipated projects highlight his commitment to sharing compelling indigenous stories with audiences worldwide.
