Roseanne Liang

Roseanne Liang is a director and screenwriter, born in Aotearoa New Zealand of Hong Kong Chinese descent. She has made award-winning work across feature film and TV, including autobiographical feature My Wedding and other Secrets (2011) and Sundance-SXSW breakout action short, Do No Harm (2017). 

Roseanne’s first Hollywood action-thriller Shadow in the Cloud starred Chlöe Grace Moretz and premiered at TIFF 2020 where it won the People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award. In 2021, Roseanne was named as one of Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch. Roseanne also showran and directed post-apocalyptic comedy TV series Creamerie, which was awarded Best Drama Series at the 2022 NZTV Awards. Roseanne is currently working as a director and co-executive producer on Netflix’s epic live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
