Tayla Hancock

Tayla is the Senior Advisor (Policy and Performance) and Chair of the Staff Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga New Zealand Film Commission. She has worked for government agencies in Aotearoa and Australia in social and cultural policy roles, leading initiatives that support the aspirations of underrepresented communities. Tayla has a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology, with expertise using visual research methods and analysing how marginalised communities are represented on screen. Tayla takes a human-centred and intersectional approach to her mahi and values the power of co-design. She uses her lived experience with mental health and neurodiversity to foster safe spaces, champion wellbeing and break down stigma.
