Te Kohe Tuhaka

Te Kohe Tuhaka is a New Zealand Māori actor of Ngāti Porou and Ngāi Tūhoe descent. Te Kohe is currently starring alongside Jason Momoa in Hawaiian history epic, Chief Of War, which came directly after producing and starring alongside Guy Pearce in action-adventure film The Convert  written and directed by Lee Tamahori.  

Te Kohe’s work spans film, television and stage, with standout roles including warrior chief ‘Wirepa’ in feature film The Dead Lands. The film’s success saw its universe expanded to a television series by AMC Shudder, with Te Kohe in the lead role of ‘Waka-nuku-rau’.  

Other recent highlights include starring alongside Dylan O’Brien in the the post-apocalyptic romcom Love and Monsters. Te Kohe also plays series regular ‘Wiremeu Poulan’ in Rotorua-set Vegas, a major supporting role in survival horror feature film Great White, and a recent guest appearance on award-winning crime drama The Brokenwood Mysteries. 

On stage, Te Kohe has toured internationally with award-winning play Strange Resting Places, going on to co-produce short film Maunga Cassino, inspired by the play, which won ‘Best Short Film’ at the Italian film festival Ora!Fest. He most recently received acclaim for his role of “Wiremu/Lopakhin” in Auckland Theatre Company’s modern adaption of The Cherry Orchard.
