Tui Ruwhiu

Tui has spent more than 25 years in the screen industry, starting as a production assistant and moving onto roles as a writer, director, line producer, producer and executive producer in a variety of genres including advertising, corporate communications, travel, factual and news programming. In the last 12 years his focus shifted to short and feature film and TV drama, primarily as a producer. He’s an alum of the Rotterdam Producers Lab, the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) Producers Workshop, and the NZFC/AFTRS A to Z Producing Workshop. He is a former board member of Ngā Aho Whakaari Māori in Screen and was an industry representative on the New Zealand Screen Production Grant Panel. Tui has worked at DEGANZ for the last six years, advocating and lobbying for New Zealand directors and editors. He was a member of the Film Industry Working Group that developed the recommendations to the government for the Screen Industry Workers Bill.
