Part of the new generation of African storytellers, Wanuri Kahiu’s stories and films have received international acclaim and screened in film festivals around the world. Her second feature film, a queer love story, RAFIKI, premiered this year in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section and sparked controversy in its own country of Kenya, where it has been banned. Wanuri was named a TED Fellow in 2017 and World Economic Forum cultural leader in 2018.
